“On March 11, 2020 I began a work that involved distorting communion cups with heat. Shortly afterwards I was locked out of my studio because of the spread of COVID-19. Having been severed from the work for approximately four months the first piece I made was a rat trap in the shape of an icon. During these months I have collected these pieces into a body of work called Things I Took From a Church on Fire. The series is not complete yet as I have created 65 pieces but will stop when I have finished 77.”
